Why the Allies Succeeded at D Day

And why President Trump's appeasement agenda is prelude to global war.

Moral Clarity is the Foundation of Battlefield Success

As American global leadership languishes in a sea of appeasement to authoritarians, invaders and war criminals, juxtaposed against betrayal and threats against longtime allies, the lessons of success from this DDay anniversary week become more important.

81 Years Ago this week the combined Allied armies launched the largest amphibious assault on the history of the world. This week more than 100,000 are gathered in Normandy from around the world, many wearing the clothing of the WWII liberators, to honor this supreme sacrifice which led to freedom for the world.

For twenty years I have made documentaries and films on the men of the Allied forces of the Second World War - the Americans, Dutch, French, English, Poles, Belgians, Canadians, Aussies, Kiwis and others. I have filmed through the Pacific and European theaters of war, interviewing many hundreds of veterans, including pilots, paratroopers, special forces from that era, officers and enlisted from every branch of the military in the major allied powers.

After many decades I am of the opinion that the Allies won, not because we were bigger or better, but because we were right. They had the moral high ground and they knew it. Being right gave authority. It produced the elements needed for military success. On this DDay week of June 6, 1944, each of these elements were present:

Moral Clarity

Under the command of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the allied forces descending on Normandy advanced with moral clarity. There was zero equivocation about the diabolical evil of the enemy, and the righteousness of the allied cause.

Mature Leadership

The leaders who had achieved prominence were not perfect men, by they were remarkable individuals, many deeply motivated by higher purpose, many others tested and proven. Churchill and Eisenhower both represent men of character and maturity, capable of projecting vision and indomitable resolve.

Allied Unity

There was remarkable unity amongst the key allies nations, their generals and leaders. There was an understanding of the existential nature of the fight. There was no ambiguity about the diabolical nature of the enemy or the failure of appeasement policies.

Vision of Victory

Before the allied nations united, both England and America had been plagued by German sycophants and isolationist appeasers. By December 7, 1941, they were running for cover and were put of the political dialogue. By June 6, 1944, the Allies had one mission, complete and total victory. Only the complete defeat of the enemy was acceptable.

The men of Normandy had faith that what they were doing was right, faith that they fought for all humanity, faith that a just God would grant them mercy on this beachhead or on the next. It was the deep knowledge β€” and pray God we have not lost it β€” that there is a profound, moral difference between the use of force for liberation and the use of force for conquest. Military Success in WWII Proceeded from Sound Foundations

These four intangible, but fundamental reasons, not military strength and strategic brilliance, created the foundation for our victory in World War II.

Everything else proceeded from these pillars.

Only moral clarity, mature leadership, unity among allies and a clear vision of victory create the environment for a lasting and decisive military campaign in a global war for freedom. The absence of these ingredients is a recipe for defeat in any global conflict.


On DDay Week 2025 America Appeased War Criminals

It has been 81 years this week since D-Day. We face a new threat to the West in the form of a global superpowerβ€”an enemy to the United States and the Westβ€”and the greatest war criminal superpower regime since the Third Reich.

Presently, America has failed the test. The crisis grows worse daily under a failed policy of appeasement and mutual concessions to the criminal regime in Moscow. American leadership does not seek a just peace, but a cessation of fighting that opens the doors to new economic relations with the war criminal regime.
